Shadow Days & Tour Information
Tours of Santa Clara
Not sure which high school to choose for your student? Be sure to come tour Santa Clara. Tours are given by appointment at the following times while school is in session.

Mondays –  Friday 1:30pm - 4:30pm by appointment

Your tour will be conducted by the Director of Admissions and will last approximately 40 minutes. Typically, tours are given to one family at a time, however during high volume months, two families may be scheduled for the same tour. Parents and students are both encouraged, but not required, to take the tour.

Please call the Office of Admissions at (805) 483-9502 or e-mail Lorraine Yoro to schedule your tour during one of the above times.

Shadow Program
Q: What is the Shadow Program?
A: "Shadowing" is a program designed to give your student a feel for SCHS life. Your student will attend classes and lunch with a SCHS student host. Shadow days are held during the month December for 8th grade prospective students. For other students or late applicants, shadow days can be scheduled at other times.

Q: Must students know a SCHS student to participate?
A: If your student knows someone at SCHS, they are welcome to shadow him/her. Otherwise, your student will be paired with a SCHS student with similar interests (i.e. activities, sports). Sibling shadows are also permitted.

Q: Must students be accepted to SCHS  before they participate in this program?
A: Acceptance is not required, however the program is reserved for 8th grade students or high school students interested in transferring from another school to SCHS. The program is designed for students who have yet to decide on their high school choice.

Q: What should visiting students wear when they shadow?
A: Students may wear casual dress without any offensive logos or language. They may also choose to wear their school uniform

Q: How long is a typical school day and are visiting students required to stay the entire day?
A: Generally, classes begin at 8:00am and conclude at 3:10pm. Shadow students will meet at 7:45am and be finished at 1pm.

Q: Do visiting students need to pack a lunch?
A: You may pack a lunch or try our food service program which has an extensive menu selection. $5.00 will more than cover a student's lunch.

Q: How do I sign up for a shadow day?
A: Please contact the Office of Admissions at (805) 483-9502 to schedule a shadow. A parent or guardian must speak with someone in the Office of Admissions to set up the shadow day.

PLEASE NOTE: Shadows MUST be arranged at least 3 school days in advance; one weeks notice is preferable.

IMPORTANT: The Shadow Program is not to be used to visit friends for the day. The program is designed for students interested in making Santa Clara their possible high school home. Thank you for your cooperation in making this worthwhile program a success for everyone involved.
